Malta has, as an independent European nation, consistently enjoyed strong relations with Europe. Now that Malta is formally part of the EU, the free physical movement of goods and capital, in view of the single market, will further facilitate trade and investment. In particular, firms located in Malta will have far easier access to the full EU marketplace than in the past.
