Was born and resides in Austria. He graduated in economics after which he joined the bank of Sparkasse Schwaz as a senior manager with in the Marketing Department. He was then appointed member of the Managing Board, a post he retained till 1991.   Prior to his election as Chairman on the board of Sparkasse Schwaz he held the post of Assistant Chairman for a number of years.  In 2000 Sparkasse Bank Malta started its operation – Mr. Wanke has been Chairman on the local board ever since.

His work experience comprises training in the management of securities and loans and training in the Austrian Savings Banks Group for which he was later appointed a member.  In 2005 he was elected as a member of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Bank and Insurance Division.

He holds further positions on the board of Global Fund Selection SICAV acting as president and president of the Savings Banks Group of Tirol and Vorarlberg.

In 2006 he was appointed a Director of Quest Investment Services, the investment arm of Sparkasse Bank Malta.

Attended schooling at Downside, a Benedictine school in Bath (UK). Gained his experience in finance through his education at the Centre International De Glion, in Switzerland from where he Graduated in Management and Finance.

He is director of a licensed trustee and nominee firm in Malta to which he returned after completing his studies abroad mainly offering financial services to international clients. He has furthered his education by examination in investment services through the London Securities Institute.

Mr Mifsud is the managing director at Quest Investment Services Ltd and its newly formed partner, Sparkasse Bank Malta. Besides being responsible for the company issues, he is also actively involved in providing clients with advice on investment matters as well as structuring the holding of assets. He speaks fluent French & Italian besides English and Maltese.

David Cauchi, Director

Joined Nat West Bank in January 1972 at their Bloomsbury Way branch, on the outskirts of the City of London. He progressed through several branches and gained experience in normal branch banking including Foreign Business, Securities and Advances and Recoveries.

Reached a management position and became more involved in Administration but remained involved in lending to corporate clients on a secured as well as an unsecured basis. This involved studying business plans and start-up sanctioning. He was involved in administering

In 2001, he returned to his country of birth, joined Sparkasse Bank Malta as General Manager and subsequently was offered a directorship and company secretary post.

Bernhard Plattner, Director

Was born and resides in Schwaz in the Tyrol region of Austria.

In 1982 he graduated from the business and finance school of Schwaz. That same year he commenced his career in the banking sector by joining Sparkasse Schwaz. As a mandatory requirement for joining the bank, he successfully passed his qualifications in the Sparkassenprufung 1 and 2 examinations. His initial post started him off on a junior level in the Accounting and Controlling department after completing his management Training Scheme M1 of the Austrian Savings Bank Group.

In 2002, he was honoured the senior position of heading the same division.

His long term loyalty and dedication to the bank later earned him his position on the supervisory board of Sparkasse Schwaz which he held for 15 years.

After the opening of the Bank's offices in Malta in the year 2000, he was appointed a member on the board of Sparkasse Bank Malta plc, which is also a shareholder of Quest Investment Services. Mr. Plattner is involved in the directorship on both boards. He speaks fluent German and English.
